The official opening of the station mission took place on January 30, 2023 in the new premises. For more than 100 years, numerous helpers, mostly on a voluntary basis, have been doing extraordinary help. With its polyspectral metal cladding, the new building blends gently into the historical surroundings and at the same time invites those seeking help, those in need or travelers with its transparency.

The "Yearbook of Architecture" honors selected projects as representatives of contemporary building culture in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Outstanding buildings are presented in the four chapters »Culture & Infrastructure«, »Work«, »Education« and »Housing«. The projects presented meet the complex problems and questions that modern architecture faces in a creative and progressive way. They are characterized by an exemplary concept of sustainability: ecologically, economically and socially, the needs of the users are always in focus. While infrastructure and cultural buildings build a bridge between functional use and identity-creating urban reference, the working worlds of tomorrow are already being created today in the corporate architecture of a company or in modular co-working spaces. In educational buildings, pedagogical concepts are reflected in architecture, while innovative living solutions regularly show new forms of living together and develop existing ones.

The Hamburg band REVOLVERHELD takes over the patronage for the building and Rolf Zuckowski sang with and for the children.
“When I design facades plastically, then I interlock thus making the gap much stronger with the buildings and their inner life. On the other hand, the open space often ends abruptly and finally on a smoothly cut façade. But for me, there is not really an indoor or outdoor space, but there is only one big space continuum that runs through the whole world and is filled with light.”

Back 1st PRIZE! COMPETITION DOMSTRASSE HAMBURG The owner AUG. PRIEN Immobilien, Gesellschaft für Projektentwicklung GmbH from Hamburg, has commissioned our office with the redesign of the building ensemble at the HamburgDomstrasse, in an architectural competition we prevailed against 5 national offices.

The ensemble, vis-a-vis the cathedral square, the place where the Hammaburg once stood, is being developed into a new, self-contained urban element.
With about 10,000 sqm of office space (about 19,000 sqm GFA), about 60 apartments including subsidized housing, as well as about 1,250 sqm of commercial space and restaurants, a part of the city’s history is embellished and contributes to the ensemble also to the revitalization of the city center.
SOS-Kinderdorf and Family Center
We are building a dock for docking – in the new "Port for families" from 2021 on Kinderdorffamilies will find a new home. In addition a large family center for the district will be included. Unfortunately, the number of places for children and teenagers who can not grow up with their parents are limited in Hamburg. SOS-Kinderdorf helps and builds for a total of three Kinderdorffamilys a new home.
An SOS-Kinderdorf in the middle of the city?
When children can not grow up in their families, the search for the best possible Alternative for the child has to be found. Six children each become part in the SOS-Kinderdorf Family with a Villagemother or father to live as one family. Thus, the children get the chance to keep their previous environment – whether school or Circle of friends.

The facade construction offers good visibility for all apartments and ensures optimal noise protection. A bar with five floors completes the space inside the U-shaped building to the south. In this way, adequate privacy is created in the open quarters, especially through the green roof landscapes with partly private roof terraces, loggias and balconies.

The construction of the building with around 310 apartments on a gross floor area of approximately 31,500 square meters started in the spring of 2018.
Today, the oversized excavation pit for the entire district, cut by the subway station “Überseequartier” that is already used. Now initially around 300,000 cubic meters of soil are being moved.
With a total area of 209,500 m², Überseequartier is the largest inner-city project in Europe. There will be around 90,000 m² of retail and leisure space, 50,000 m² of offices and 30,000 m² for 3 hotels.
The topping-out ceremony for the villa of a hamburger couple was celebrated in the most beautiful weather with a view of the Elbe. In the immediate vicinity of the former Villa Jako (once fashion czar Karl Lagerfeld) is created until the beginning of 2019 a villa with a view of the Elbe. The architecture with its precise and distinctive roof construction and an open light room inside, which opens from the basement to the roof, blends in elegantly with its brick façade. The views of the Sülberg and the Elbe are varied arranged, the light and its reflections are captured inside the house through narrow opening and large windows. Lightness and elegance describe the house in two words.

The SOS KINDERDORF will support children and families in the future with even more space and offers – the construction of the "Port for Families" on Straßburger Platz in Hamburg Dulsberg has been initiated.
CARSTEN ROTH ARCHITEKT is planning the new building, where from 2020 onwards both children's village families will find a new home and the Hamburgers will find another place of encounter, education and support.
On a plot of approx. 1,000 m2, a new family center is being planned in addition to apartments for children's Dorff families. This public area includes a family café, a children's clothing store and several classrooms.
The apartments of the SOS Kinderdorf families will be located at the rear of the "Port for Families". The building fits in along Straßburger Platz and Weißenburger Straße.

The building itself is divided into three parts: The three upper floors in the northern part of the building and the four upper floors opposite the church end at the height of the neighboring residential buildings. So that the landmark of the church of the Good News Dulsberg, the church tower, can function in its function as the visual axis and reference point of the Dulsberg-Residents, the connecting structure in the middle is single-storey.
The varying facade of the building scales according to its use. The façade side facing the church is covered with plants over two storeys. The façade itself is a terracotta façade made of baked clay that picks up the brick color of the nearby buildings. On the ground floor of the main entrance facing Straßburger Straße, the building offers more space for a large family café and several course rooms.

The quality of living determines the identity and quality of life of a city. Growth, but also constant changes in the population structure, new demands of the city dwellers, differentiated urban planning and social requirements as well as energy requirements formulate the challenges of the current housing construction.
With the WohnbauPreis Hamburg, the Architektur Centrum pursues the goal of focusing attention on the architectural and design qualities as well as on the integrative and sustainable solutions in the current new housing construction.
The building ensemble ELBDECK HAMBURG was chosen to show the flexibility of our building planning in the new publication "Inside Moder Workspaces" of the Deutscher Architekturverlag. The ELBDECK Hamburg, right on the banks of the river Elbe realized as a residential quarter, has already been awarded the 1st BDA Hamburg Architecture Prize 2016.

This practice book is situated in this space, showing methods and tools to develop integrated planning concepts in the earliest planning stages through active networking of all involved disciplines and stakeholders. Through a variety of practical examples, this book will become a daily companion in the planning and optimization of clinics, as well as other medical buildings.

Carsten Roth convinced the jury with a striking and sculptural building whose outline levels are arranged mutually twisted. According to the jury the facets of the architectural sculpture follow “prosaic considerations” because the floor plan levels are based on the environment. The ground floor adopts the property form, the three office levels are determined from the buildings of the neighborhood, and the two residential floors follow the flight of the channel.
The ground floor area was rated as achieved: This is designed to be particularly generous with movable partitions and allows various uses (from Baunetz).
